This is another painting done from my imagination and based upon the beautiful areas in northern Wisconsin.
Watercolors have always fascinated me, as have textures. So I sometimes combine rice paper or charcoal on my paintings. This adds an effect that I cannot achieve in any other way. The theme of nature with which my paintings deal is sometimes representational, other times more impressionistic, and occasionally abstract. The beautiful countryside of Waupaca County provides me with an endless amount of inspirational subject matter. Our beautiful home and studio near Iola, Wisconsin was my own design and includes gallery space and work areas where I can give individual instruction. I have never heard of this term before, but I will look it up. Sometimes I like to change the format of the painting, so that it becomes long and thin or else tall and narrow, rather than "standard" proportions. Thank you, Fontaine, for visiting my gallery! Hope you continue to enjoy it!

Carolyn, are you familiar with zentangles? One of the zentangle artists specializes in vertical tangles. This painting reminded me of some of her compositions. Can't think of her name off the top but sure a search at Amazon under zentangles would turn it up. I mention it because it might give you some ideas.
