Spring is officially here, even though the snow in our yard is trying to tell me otherwise. So I got out some of my lily photos, sketched a composition, and kept the colors in line with a springtime atmosphere. The use of negative painting helped the stems and buds relate to the almost white flower.
Watercolors have always fascinated me, as have textures. So I sometimes combine rice paper or charcoal on my paintings. This adds an effect that I cannot achieve in any other way. The theme of nature with which my paintings deal is sometimes representational, other times more impressionistic, and occasionally abstract. The beautiful countryside of Waupaca County provides me with an endless amount of inspirational subject matter. Our beautiful home and studio near Iola, Wisconsin was my own design and includes gallery space and work areas where I can give individual instruction.
